If you live in the East in Tampines West, you might be familiar with 888 Mookata. Situated right opposite Tampines West CC, the coffeeshop that 888 Mookata is in is packed with people wanting to get the taste of the succulent meat that they prepared from scratch

So, for those who havenā€™t been. Why is 888 Mookata so crazily popular?

Menu

888 Mookata has two platters to choose from, if youā€™re eating with another friend or in groups of 4. The platter for 2 is $26 and the platter for 4 is $45.

The two person platter which costs $26 contains meat like chicken thigh, pork collar and belly, prawn, as well as scallops, mussels, fishballs, fishcakes and vegetables. Main carbohydrates like the staple white rice and Maggie Mee are also available.

The four person plater which costs $45 contains extra sides like Oyster Mushroom, Hotdog, Tang Hoon (Glass Noodles) and egg, so you can have even more of a gastronomical experience with your friends or family.

Love eating prawn but hate the mess that comes with de-shelling the prawn? At 888 Mookata, the prawn is already deshelled so you can enjoy the succulent taste of prawn once you cook it- without having to worry about dirtying your fingers.

You will be served with 2 sauces, both are sweet chilli sauces sprinkled with sesame seeds. The sweet and slightly sour chilli sauce brings a whole new level to the meat and whatever you dip into the sauce- leaving you feeling satisfied as the spice and savoury sensations melt in your mouth.

Of course, do be warned that you will leave with both a full stomach and the smell of grilled meat sticking on you. Also do note that as pork and lard are used in cooking, 888 Mookata is also not halal.

One of the popular stalls in East Coast Lagoon, Song Kee serves up oyster omelette or known as ā€˜Orh Luakā€™ and oyster egg. If you enjoy the texture of tapioca starch and egg, come and try their oyster omelette. They serve up generous amounts of oysters, tucked away into the fluffy and fragrant fried egg, with a little bit of tapioca starch. Garnished with a bit of parsley sprinkled over the omelette. They also offer oyster egg, but no starch is added. It is really up to your personal preference on how to like your fried oyster to be. Song Keeā€™s spicy-tangy chili helped to bring out the flavours of the oyster packing a nice punch. Do check this stall out and choose which style of fried oyster you prefer.

Do you enjoy Mee Sua? Opened throughout the day, this is a great spot for dining in. Popular among the people in the East, Seng Kee is known for their wide spread of zi char and signature black chicken herbal soup, pork kidney mee sua soup. Served in a red bowl containing a thick dark coloured soup with an aroma of the herbal broth. When scooped up, there were generous portions of sliced kidney and tender lean pork slices. The kidney pieces are cooked to perfection with no lingering taste of organ parts that you may find from some other pig organ dishes. The noodles are cooked to perfection, silky smooth and not overcooked till mushy like some mee sua stalls that you may have come across. The Herbal Kidney mee sua soup is perfect to enjoy in the cold rainy weather.
