Last Friday, the Government has capped social gatherings to 2 people from May 16 to June 13 as Singapore tightens Covid-19 measures against the surge of new cases, people will be allowed out in groups of only two from five. Home-based learning and work from home measures (WFH) are being implemented.
Moviegoers can still watch movies, however, the new measures state that no food can be consumed in movie theatres.
Summary of the new changes
- Dining in is prohibited, only takeaway is allowed
- Allowed group size reduced from 5 to 2 people
- Reduced intermingling within the workplace, work-from-home to be the default working arrangement.

1. Up (2009)

Pixar studios is well known for its emotionally gripping story, and this all-time classic movie is no different.
Starting with a whimsical note with floating a house by attaching many balloons to it, UP is a movie that takes the viewer on an emotional rollercoaster that ends with the viewer having a deeper appreciation of their loved ones, their loyalty and the times spent with them.
It follows the story of the main character, Carl Frederickson, as well as the supporting cast: Russell, a Boy Scout, Kevin, a bird and Dug, a dog, as they attempt to travel to Paradise Falls on their floating house.

This movie is perfect to watch over this period because it reminds the viewer that no matter how bleak things are now, things will always get better.
Even if you have watched it before, this is one of the greats that never get old no matter how many times you've watched it, so do give it a rewatch!

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs is a story following the main character, Flint Lockwood, as he tries to expand the town's diet by inventing the "Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator" (FLDSMDFR) a device that transforms water into food.

This is as the town’s diet used to consist of exclusively sardines, which the world found to be gross.
This movie covers topics like greed, believing in yourself when no one else does and of course, raining food of many flavours. Greed is explored when the mayor of the town refuses to turn off the machine despite Flint’s warnings that the foods have mutated(in the above picture). Believing in yourself is the main character’s grit to continue building the machine despite his father doubting he would succeed, both of which are apt for what is going on now.
While it isn’t raining food, and we definitely don’t recommend you going outdoors if it is not necessary nowadays…

The movie starts with Forrest sitting by the bus stop, with a box of chocolates on his lap, he then adds on with an iconic quote from the movie. In the show, the quote “Life is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you’re gonna get.” The movie is centered on Forrest, follows the life events of a man, ever since he was a kid from wearing braces on his legs to having a below average IQ. 5. Monsters Inc

Monsters Inc is an animated feature film that follows James P. "Sulley" Sullivan and his one-eyed partner and best friend Mike Wazowski – employees of the energy-producing factory Monsters, Inc, which generates power by scaring human children.
However, the monster world believes that the children are toxic, and when one sneaks into the factory which Sulley and Mike named “Boo” , they must return her home before it is too late.

In the end, though heartbreaking, Mike and Sulley did manage to sneak the child back to her home world and tucked her into bed, showing that not all monsters are bad and make children scream.
